Changing car registration and obtaining Spanish plates

According to the laws of the kingdom, new residents have the right to temporary registration for 6 months. Then the car must pass homologation, ITV and register with the General Directorate of Road Traffic (DGT).

In the absence of the above, the owner faces many problems. One of which is passing ITV (TO) in the country of registration of the car.

To change the registration of the car, you will need the following documents:

- Spanish resident card
- Vehicle registration certificate
- Vehicle passport
- Vehicle purchase and sale agreement
- Certificate of deregistration from permanent residence in Russia
- Certificate of deregistration from consular registration
- Car insurance

Important! All documents from Russia must be translated into Spanish by a sworn translator.

After receiving the Ficha Tecnica document at customs, which is essentially the vehicle's technical passport indicating all of its parameters, a mark on passing the ITV, and a determination of the level of exhaust emissions, you are issued a permit to drive this vehicle (Permiso de Circulacion).

Next, you must submit this document to the DGT (Road Traffic Service), pay a fee for the right to use Spanish roads, and fill out an application to obtain state numbers.
