Assistance with registration of a Lexus RX300 from the CIS

A brand-new Lexus RX300 was purchased from a showroom in Kyrgyzstan. However, due to the owner's move to Spain, the car was deregistered in its home country. Thus, the Lexus RX300 appeared in Spain with transit plates from Kyrgyzstan.

The owner wanted to handle all the paperwork himself. He went through customs and paid the duty himself. But then he encountered difficulties with homologation and subsequent registration of the car.

These procedures require a large package of documents, all in Spanish.
This is where complications arose.

The owner approached various brokers and was rejected by each. No one would take on the task for various reasons: some lacked documents, others cited sanctions, and still others simply said it was impossible. Some advised selling the car and buying a new one in Spain.

After several unsuccessful attempts, the owner, on a recommendation, contacted us.

This is a complex and time-consuming process, but it can be resolved. The key is to ensure all homologation requirements are met and a complete set of registration documents are provided.

We scheduled the car for an MOT inspection. They checked the steering play, brake effectiveness, headlight performance, exhaust system, engine number (DFA code), and VIN.

After the inspection, we submitted the registration documents. We had to request some documents from the seller. The negotiations and waiting took time.

In total, it took 4.5 months to resolve the issue.
It's a challenging task, and there's no quick fix. But we completed the vehicle registration process with a positive outcome.

Now the owner of the Lexus RX300 drives his car in Spain with a Spanish registration and license plates.
